Tree Trimming & Pruning
Structural pruning to industry standards: deadwood removed, long limbs reduced to a healthy growing point and the canopy thinned so wind can pass through. We never top trees.
A family-owned, arborist-led team caring for the trees on established Los Angeles properties — from Brentwood, Bel Air and the Palisades to Encino, Calabasas and San Marino. Careful pruning, safe removals and honest recommendations, backed by more than 40 years of caring for Los Angeles trees.
We don't simply cut trees. We help you understand the safety, health and appearance of the trees on your property — and recommend only the work they actually need.
Caring for Los Angeles trees since 1985 — removals, pruning, palm care and storm response.
Every crew works under an ISA Certified Arborist, and an arborist assesses your trees before anything is quoted.
CA License #1002853 (C-61/D-49 Tree Service, C-27 Landscaping), general liability and workers' comp for every employee.
75-ft boom trucks, a lift truck for palms, chippers and stump grinders — kept in our own yard, not rented for the day.
Large trees taken down in sections over roofs, pools and hardscape — by rope rigging or crane when the job calls for it.
Planting and hardscape protected, debris chipped and hauled, and the site left clean at the end of every day.
“Every recommendation starts with one question: what does this tree need to stay safe, healthy and beautiful for years to come?”
From routine pruning to technical removals, every job is planned around your trees, your home and the local rules that apply.
Structural pruning to industry standards: deadwood removed, long limbs reduced to a healthy growing point and the canopy thinned so wind can pass through. We never top trees.
When removal is the right call, trees come down in controlled sections — over roofs, pools and fence lines — with debris chipped and hauled and the stump ground if you want it gone.
Leaning trees, failed limbs, dead eucalyptus and trees in tight spaces. Our arborist plans the rigging, and the crew works from boom trucks, ropes or crane.
Dead fronds, seed pods and old frond bases removed from a lift truck — cleaned up without over-stripping the palm.
Selective thinning and height reduction that opens views and clears roofs while keeping the tree's form and health.
An arborist's evaluation of structure, roots and decay so you know which trees are sound and which need attention.
Limbs on a roof or a trunk across the drive — call any time. Emergency tree service is available 24/7.
Scheduled care for mature trees, with deadwood and weak unions addressed before the next windstorm finds them.
In Los Angeles, tree care is part of fire safety. We help homeowners reduce wildfire risk before fire season and care for properties and trees affected by recent fires.
Fire-season pruning and brush-clearance tree work for hillside and canyon properties, done to LAFD standards and planned around your trees' health.
For homeowners in areas affected by recent fires, including Pacific Palisades, Malibu and Altadena, our arborist helps you decide what can be saved and what has to come down safely.
In Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, LAFD brush-clearance rules apply to trees within 200 feet of structures, and compliance is required year-round. Native protected trees still require City permits before removal.
A century-old sycamore, a sweeping coast live oak or a row of tall palms gives a Los Angeles home its shade, privacy and character — and much of its curb appeal. Mature trees can't be replaced in a lifetime, so our first goal is always to keep healthy trees healthy.
NOAA's October 2026 outlook calls a strong El Niño likely through early 2027 and favors a wetter-than-average winter for California. Forecasts are probabilities, not guarantees, but wet winters are when Los Angeles trees are most likely to fail.
Rain-soaked soil loses its grip on roots, saturated canopies grow heavier, and wind does the rest. Large eucalyptus, ficus and pines, trees with dead limbs or weak unions, and trees on slopes or recently burned hillsides are the most vulnerable. The time to find those problems is before the first big storm, not after a limb is on your roof.
Schedule a pre-storm inspectionOur crews care for trees on residential properties across Los Angeles — hillside lots in Bel Air and Brentwood, canyon properties in the Palisades, estates in Encino, Calabasas and San Marino, and the mature, tree-lined streets of Cheviot Hills, Pasadena and Santa Monica.
Fall offshore winds and winter storms find weak limbs, dead fronds and top-heavy eucalyptus first. Pruning and inspections before the season are the most effective way to prevent storm damage.
In the City of Los Angeles, native oaks, Western sycamores, California black walnut and California bay trees — plus toyon and Mexican elderberry — are protected once they measure 4 inches in diameter at 4.5 ft, and removing one requires a City permit. Beverly Hills requires a permit for certain native and heritage trees between the house and the street. Street trees in the parkway usually belong to the city. We help you identify protected or city-owned trees before any work is scheduled; obtaining permits remains the property owner's responsibility.
Canyon and hillside lots often fall within Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones, where brush-clearance rules apply year-round. See our fire-season and wildfire recovery services.

It depends on the tree's size and species, how much work it needs, access for equipment, and whether limbs must be rigged down over a roof, pool or hardscape. Because no two properties are alike, we price every job after an on-site visit, and the written estimate is free. Our minimum charge for tree services is $600.
Most trees here can be pruned year-round. Late fall through winter is ideal for structural pruning of many deciduous trees, and getting hazardous limbs and dead palm fronds addressed before the Santa Ana wind and winter storm season prevents most storm damage. During spring and summer nesting season, we check trees for active bird nests before work begins.
It depends on the tree and the city. In the City of Los Angeles, protected species — native oaks (except scrub oak), Western sycamore, California black walnut and California bay, plus toyon and Mexican elderberry shrubs — need a City permit once they reach 4 inches in diameter at 4.5 feet, even on private property. Street trees in the parkway are generally city-owned. Beverly Hills, Santa Monica and other cities set their own rules. We identify protected and city-owned trees during the estimate; filing permits is the property owner's responsibility.
Warning signs include large dead branches, cracks or splits in the trunk, a new or increasing lean, lifted soil or exposed roots on one side, mushrooms or conks at the base, cavities, and broken limbs hanging in the canopy. If a tree shows any of these near your home, driveway or play area, have an arborist assess it.
Often, yes. Structural pruning, end-weight reduction, deadwood removal and improved care can extend the life of many mature trees. We recommend removal only when a tree is dead, failing, or poses a risk that pruning can't reasonably reduce.
The terms are often used interchangeably. In arboriculture, pruning means selective cuts made for a tree's health, structure and safety, while trimming often describes shaping or size control — such as hedges. All of our tree work follows proper pruning practices: no topping, and cuts made back to healthy growing points.
Poor cuts and topping weaken trees and can create the hazards you're trying to prevent, while large-tree work near homes requires proper rigging, equipment and insurance. An arborist-led, licensed and insured crew protects your trees, your property and everyone on site.
